This is such news.
On August 23, 2022, it was reported that Angels owner Arte Moreno was “exploring” the sale of the (now) 62-year-old American League franchise that was founded and owned by ‘The Singing Cowboy’ Gene Autry in 1961, who sold it to The Disney Corporation in 1996. Disney CEO Michael Eisner subsequently sold the franchise to Moreno for a reported $183.5 million in 2003 … the year after the Angels won their first – and only – World Series Championship.
Lo and behold, on Monday afternoon, it was being widely reported that the now 76-year-old Tucson, AZ native had changed his mind and was retaining ownership of the team, releasing this statement:
“During this process, it became clear that we have unfinished business and feel we can make a positive impact on the future of the team and the fan experience.
“This offseason we committed to a franchise record player payroll and still want to accomplish our goal of bringing a World Series Championship back to our fans. We are excited about this next chapter of Angels Baseball. We are grateful to Galatioto Sports Partners for their outstanding efforts throughout the process that allowed us to meet with a number of highly qualified individuals and groups who expressed strong interest in the Club. However, as discussions advanced and began to crystallize, we realized our hearts remain with the Angels, and we are not ready to part ways with the fans, players and our employees.“

A short while later, MLB Commission Rob Manfred followed with this statement:
“Despite strong buyer interest in the Angels, Arte Moreno’s love of the game is most important to him. I am very pleased that the Moreno Family has decided to continue owning the team.”
For the most part, none of this has anything to do with how well (or poorly) Angels manager Phil Nevin‘s team performs between the lines (as they say). But what it does do is keep the franchise name of The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim; this despite the fact that Angel Stadium of Anaheim isn’t even in Los Angeles County.
Yeah, I’m still miffed about that.

Must not have gotten the offers he thought he would. Must suck to be an Angels fan.
For the most part, I think the Angels fans were happy that he was going to sell
All in all, I agree.
The Angels have just never seemed to get up to the first tier of MLB teams no matter who they have signed or traded for.
He’d have made an absolute TON of dough if he’d sold and still will when he yet again changes his mind.
In 2022, the Los Angeles Angels had an estimated value of 2.2 billion U.S. dollars. The Major League Baseball franchise is owned by Arturo Moreno, who bought the franchise for 184 million U.S. dollars in 2003.
Nice little $2B profit in 20 years.
I wonder what the offers he received were.
I suspect that he will continue to try to sell the team, just not in the public’s or media’s eye.
