by Ron Cervenka While confirmed cheater Carlos Correa continues to steal most of the headlines this offseason, Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman and his team continue to quietly make their way towards Spring Training and Opening Day 2023 mostly under the radar.
By no means is this slam on the Dodger executive, who is clearly under (very) strict spending restrictions. I mean, re-signing future Hall of Fame left-hander Clayton Kershaw, and acquiring veteran free agent (and fellow future Hall of Famer) right-hander Noah Syndergaard and veteran free agent right fielder Jason Heyward are huge gets for Friedman, while also (re)re-signed veteran left-handed reliever Adam Kolarek to a Minor League deal along the way. It’s also safe to say that Friedman is far from finished this offseason.
One such under the radar Friedman move was signing 29-year-old/five-year MLB veteran outfielder Steven Duggar to a Minor League deal last week, although there has been no official confirmation from the team yet.
The Spartanburg, SC native and former sixth-round draft pick in 2015 by the San Francisco Giants out of Clemson University owns a rather pedestrian career slash line of .236/.293/.367 with 14 home runs and 87 RBI in 846 Major League plate appearances, of which all but 41 were in a Giants uniform. He appeared in eight games with San Francisco in 2022 after being re-acquired in exchange for former Dodgers farmhand Willie Calhoun in June. He was later claimed off waivers by the Angels of Anaheim after having been acquired by (and subsequently designated for assignment by) the Texas Rangers in August.
Although the Giants had hoped to develop Duggar into a center fielder due to his strong glovework, he suffered shoulder injuries early in his career and landed on the 60-day injured list this past season with an oblique injury.
Needless to say, the one-time (very good) Clemson Tiger outfielder has his work cut out for him if he hopes of returning to the Bigs in a Dodgers uniform. But should that indeed happen, it would be yet another example of Andrew Friedman’s seemingly never-ending magic.

Joining previous Indians/Guardians no. 1 prospect (2017) Bradley Zimmer at Camelback for Spring Training. Seems that Dodgers may not be confident in James Outman’s ability to consistently hit ML pitching.
Do we realize what it says on our uniforms. It doesn’t say Pirates or rays it says Dodgers.
Whether it’s the upper brass handcuffing Andrew’s hand’s this off season or him just tightening up the purse strings for a go at Ohtani next offseason, we’ve all had great confidence in his miracles he achieve’s since 2015 & I don’t intend to lose faith in his magic move’s. If it was a giant BLOCKBUSTER deal like Betts or Freemen on long term deal’s, Machado or T. Turner for small stint’s. Or even bringing guy’s like Hill & Kelly that other team’s left for dead he’s the one that had given LA all of these NL West Championships along with 3 World Series appearances while 1 but being cheated outta another one, & for my money I’m gonna wait to see not only what kinda squad he put’s out there with mixing veterans, cast off’s & some call up’s & how they get going before I pass judgment. But if he does land Ohtani next offseason, I say we put him the Dodgers Hall of Fame right then!

Every team cheats, Houston just got caught on the grand stage.
Houston, if they did successfully cheat in the World Series, only benefited two wins out of the four they needed. Dodger fans allow emotion to get in the way of the fact that we left 10 runners on base and went 1 for 13 with runners in scoring position in Game 7 alone. And it was Jansen who blew game 2 in LA. The Dodgers did not lose to the Astros because the Astros cheated, they lost because they failed to execute in the clutch. When Correa pointed this out in the Ken Rosenthal interview, when he manned up and took full responsibility for his actions, he was not wrong about his game by game analysis. As a lifelong Dodgers fan since 1977, I want to win as much as anyone!! Hell, despite recognizing its unobtainable, I’m still not satisfied unless we are 162-0 in the regular season. All this said, its time for Dodgers fans to stop blaming the loss of the WS on the allegation that the Astros cheated and man up to the reality that we choked. One of the smartest things we could have done is pay Correa to play SS for us. He is a clutch hitter and highly intelligent on the analytical side of the game.

What everyone is looking at right now and it’s on the table is Trevor Bauer, if you let him return to the gym you gonna lose your biggest fans! That would include me! I will not go to the game now watch one that he’s playing in
Bauer had the unfortunate luck to cross paths with a freak who is a Padres fan and tried to set him up after having consensual sex. The absolutely deserves to be back in a Dodger uniform and the freaky woman should be in jail.
I would rather have Dugie back.
What happened to believing in our justice system? People who are privy to ALL THE FACTS, decided that there wasn’t a case against Trevor Bauer, period. That woman was not only a padres fan, but more importantly, she was trying to get paid. Bauer had just signed ( at that time) the largest contract ever. Bauer could have taken the easy way out, and paid her, but decided to tell the ugly truth, and let the chips fall where they may. Good for him. LET HIM PLAY!!!
Who are you people? The morality police? Just because Bauer likes to do things in the bedroom that you find distasteful , doesn’t mean he should be thrown out of baseball. You are the same people, who think PETE ROSE, one of the greatest players of all times, is being treated fairly, by NOT being in the Hall Of Fame. Seriously? What does gambling have to do with his on- field accomplishments? If you argue ” those are the rules”, then I would say, Bauer wasn’t found guilty. So LET HIM PLAY.” THOSE ARE THE RULES”.
