Let’s be brutally honest here. The only real reason most Dodgers fans are watching – or even care about – the 2022 World Series is to hopefully see the National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies beat the much-hated American League Champion Houston Astros who, of course, cheated their beloved Dodgers out of a World Series trophy in 2017 through a well-devised – and confirmed – sign-stealing scheme.
Fans unfamiliar with the details of Houston’s disgusting cheating scheme can get a detailed account of it in this outstanding piece posted by Yahoo! Sports’ Max Molski on Friday afternoon (click on below image to view the article):
The thing to keep in mind is that it was the Astros who cheated, not their extremely loyal fans. As such, and had this disgusting situation been reversed, how would Astros fans feel towards the Dodgers? Then again, we all know that the greatest franchise in all of baseball would never have even considered cheating – not ever.
But putting all of this ugliness aside (as best we can), there is one bright spot in the Dodgers-less 2022 World Series – the play-by-play announcer on Fox Sports’ broadcast of The Fall Classic is none other than our very own Joe Davis, the voice of the Dodgers since the retirement of Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully following the 2016 season, his 67th behind the Dodgers microphone. It is Davis’s first-ever World Series call.
Sadley, our beloved Vin passed on August 2. He was 94.
Should you choose to watch the 2022 World Series between the cheating Astros and the Phillies on Fox Sports, you will at least hear the familiar – and friendly – voice in Joe Davis.
…so, there’s that
Go Phillies!

@Dodgers Exactly why I am watching
I am more angry with the way the scandal was handled by Manfred than at the Asstros for doing it.
i am clear that i am in the minority but i simply don’t like to be screamed at. i don’t like how often the new breed doesn’t even call the play.
i know that it isn’t fair to compare them but i don’t understand how anyone who truly appreciated and loved the way Vin painted a picture in your minds eye can appreciate the hollering of “mookie magic” or “cody, you’re ridiculous” IN LIEU of calling the play. Vin’s post play commentary is legendary but AFTER he called the play. do you remember the final out of fernando’s nono? the ground ball to samuel? we didnt throw sombreros until the game was over. what about sandys perfect game? gibby’s homer? do you know where it went? of course you do because he told you.
not only do i turn the sound off, i’m skipping the series for this specific reason.
