Welcome to The Show James Outman!

His name is James Outman, and if you missed it, you not only missed the Dodgers exciting come-from-behind 7-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon, but you also missed some significant Dodgers – and baseball – history.

Rather than re-repeat what has already been repeated dozens (or hundreds) of times already, I’ll let the Dodgers themselves tell you (via Twitter) what the 25-year-old Redwood City, CA native and Dodgers seventh-round draft pick in 2018 out of California State University Sacramento did in his Major League debut on Sunday afternoon in front of 36,212 at Coors Field in downtown Denver:

“It was a dream come true, I guess,” Outman told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson after his incredible and historic day. “It’s kind of what I’ve been envisioning ever since I was like eight years old, so it’s been awesome. I’m kind of still processing everything, but yeah, it’s been awesome so far.”

On the third pitch of his Major League career, Dodgers right fielder James Outman crushed a 405-foot two-run home run to right-center field at Coors Field. He would later add a single and double to go 3-for-4 in his MLB debut. (Image courtesy of SportsNet LA)

“What a debut, three hits, homer, really fun to watch,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters postgame. “You could just see his joy and a day that he’s dreamt about. And for it to play out like this, I can only imagine how he’s feeling, his family’s feeling. So, just a win for the entire organization, but we got a win today; but yeah, today was about James Outman and couldn’t be more happy.”

Welcome to The Show, young man.

  1. Jesse Pearce says:

Watching Outman’s hitting mechanics and his reported defensive abilities, Bellinger better fix his swing and approach or he is going to be an ex-Dodger by the end of this year.

  2. Stevebendodger says:

If the Dodgers get Soto for prospects. Belly will be gone next yr. Outman CT3 Trace Thompson can all play CF

I think the Dodgers could get Lopez from the Marlins plus I happ and Robertson from the Cubs for less than Soto will cost?
