As was anticipated, Friday’s pregame ceremony to honor and commemorate the life and legacy of Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully was very emotional and extremely well done by Dodgers Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Broadcasting Erik Braverman and his talented staff. Through my (non-dry) eyes, it didn’t appear that there was a dry eye among the 52,714 on hand for this extremely emotional event.
But while most of the attention was understandably focused on the on-field activities and on the Dodger Stadium jumbotrons sharing the emotional events with the ballpark’s 12th sellout crowd of the season, there was one small tribute to honor the greatest broadcaster of all time which, for the most part, went completely unnoticed, even by the tremendously talented SportsNet LA camera crew – a thoughtful tip-of-the-hat by MLB umpires Hunter Wendelstedt, Nic Lentz, Lance Barksdale, and Ted Barrett skyward towards Vin in Blue Heaven.
But for those who did notice this mostly-under-the-radar and tremendously respectful gesture, it made their non-dry eyes even more so.
…especially mine.
Thank you, gentlemen. Just thank you.
Now, as Vin would say:
“It’s Tiiiiiime For Dodgers Baseball!”

@Dodgers This totally made me tear up in the stadium. Again.
