You would think they would ALL know by now, but some apparently never will:
Do not run on Mookie Betts … EVER.
As seemingly happens almost every game, someone tries to take an extra base on the 29-year-old Dodgers right field, who isn’t a six-time All-Star, five-time Gold Glove winner, four-time Silver Slugger, former MLB Player of the Year, former batting title winner, and former World Series Champion by mistake or coincidence.
This time it was 30-year-old Colorado Rockies center fielder Randal Grichuk who, for reasons that only he knows, tried to take second base on what perhaps may have been a double if it had been hit to anyone other than Mookie Betts. But it was hit to Mookie Betts, who threw an absolute bullet to Dodgers shortstop Trea Turner, who had to be chuckling under his breath.
Grichuk was out by two feet.
It was Betts’ seventh outfield assist this season and the 59th of his thus far nine-year future Hall of Fame career.
When will they learn?
Play Ball!
