The baseball world is holding its collective breath as it waits to learn whether or not Phillies superstar right fielder Bryce Harper is lost for the season after being hit on his left hand with a 97-MPH fastball from San Diego Padres right-hander Blake Snell resulting in a fractured left thumb.
The six-time All-Star, two-time National League MVP, two-time Silver Slugger, and 2012 NL Rookie of the Year will undergo further tests and scans on Sunday to determine if the future Hall of Famer will require surgery to repair the fracture.
“Hopeful he’ll be back at some point,” Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski told reporters postgame.
Over his (thus far) 11 major league seasons, the Las Vegas, NV native and first overall draft pick in 2010 by the Washington Nationals out of College of Southern Nevada in Henderson, NV, owns a Cooperstown-worthy career slash line of .281/.391/.528/.919, with 291 doubles, 23 triples, 282 home runs, and 800 RBI. He was signed by the Phillies as a free agent to an MLB record-setting 13-year/$330 million contract on March 2, 2019.

Really sucks for the Phillies and Harper who is having an MVP like season so
far. We Dodger fans certainly know the pain of losing crucial players to injury.
Not good for baseball either when exciting star players are sidelined. Hoping for the best and that he will be back soon.
