Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has been named the National League Player of the Week for the just-concluded week of June 20-26, 2022. The announcement came shortly after noon PT on Monday.

The 32-year-old Villa Park, CA native and second-round draft pick in 2007 by the Atlanta Braves out of El Modena High School in Orange, CA went 11-for-25 (.440) over the past week with two home runs, a triple, two doubles, with 11 RBIs and a 1.373 OPS in the six games in which he appeared during that stretch. Of those six games, three were against the Atlanta Braves, with whom he spent 12 seasons.

Prior to game one of that series, Freeman met with members of the Braves media, where he delivered an emotional teary-eyed statement thanking them and Braves fans for the love and support they gave him during his time in Atlanta.

This is the sixth time Freeman has won the prestigious award.
