Anderson Continues Dominance Over MLB

Just as Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin did the night before, and as the pair have done all season long, Dodgers left-hander Tyler Anderson was absolutely brilliant in his 10th start of the season against the NL East first-place New York Mets at Dodger Stadium on Friday night.

In his 6.0 inning of work, the 32-year-old Las Vegas, NV native, whom the Dodgers signed as a free agent on March 18, 2022, allowed no runs and only three hits, with no walks and five strikeouts, doing so on only 81 pitches in the Dodgers 6-1 win over Buck Showalter‘s (now) 35-19 Mets. With the win, Anderson now owns the best record in baseball at 7-0, with an excellent 2.59 ERA and 53 strikeouts over his combined 55.2 innings pitched.

“He was, once again, so consistent,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters postgame. “He made pitches when he needed to and kept those guys off-balance.”

You knew Dodgers left-hander Tyler Anderson was once again ‘on’ when he struck out the first two batters he faced on Friday night, including Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo to lead off the game.

“I’m just trying to keep executing my pitches and keep us in ballgames,” a modest Anderson said.

What’s even more incredible is that Anderson hasn’t allowed a run – earned or otherwise – in 26 consecutive innings pitched, with the last coming in his May 17 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“I just wanted to come here and be on a team that’s going to win and do whatever I could, whether that was starting, bullpen, whatever,” Anderson said. “Just put all that selfishness aside and try to be the best team guy I could.”

By every indication, the 6′-2″ / 220-pound hard-throwing lefty is doing exactly that.
