Okay, admit it. At some point this season, you probably said (or thought) to yourself: “It’s time for 37-year-old Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner to hang up his spikes,” – especially when the extremely popular Long Beach, CA native and unofficial team captain was hitting an un-Justin-Turner-like .174 as recently as May 8.

It’s okay … you are not alone if you said (or thought) this to yourself.

But as he has done so many times since signing with the Dodgers as a free agent on February 6, 2014 (and re-signing with them on February 19, 2021), he made us eat those words (or thoughts).

Since May 8, the beloved Dodgers third baseman (and more recently, designated hitter) is 20-for-69 (.290), which has included three home runs, ten doubles, and 16 RBI, and has seen his season batting average improve to .224 on the Dodgers (now) 46-game-old 2022 season.

On Saturday night, Turner went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two singles to improve his batting average by 20 points – in one game – in the Dodgers’ 3-2 win over the NL West last-place Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

It was the second time this month that JT has had a four-hit game and the second time in three days that he hit two doubles in a game. Unfortunately, the bases were empty in each of his four at-bats on Saturday night. As such, he ended his night with a rare 4-0-4-0 batting line, becoming only the 20th Dodger to do so.
