Dodgers Make Grove Move Official, Add Greene to Roster

The Dodgers have recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Grove, selected the contract of Shane Greene, and optioned left-handed pitcher Garrett Cleavinger and right-handed pitcher Reyes Moronta to Triple-A. Additionally, the Dodgers transferred left-handed pitcher Victor González to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Grove, 26, will make his Major League debut on Sunday afternoon as he is set to start the contest against the Phillies. He was 0-1 with a 2.76 ERA (5 ER/16.1 IP) and 22 strikeouts in five starts for Double-A Tulsa this season. He has been with the Dodgers since being drafted in the second round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of West Virginia. In his minor league career, he is a combined 1-10 with a 6.60 ERA (102 ER/139.0 IP) and 183 strikeouts in 47 games (45 starts).

Greene, 33, will join the Dodgers after going 0-1 with a 5.87 ERA (5 ER/7.1 IP) in seven games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. This is his second stint with the Dodgers as he allowed three runs in 6.2 innings in nine appearances for the club in 2021. He has spent parts of eight seasons in the Major Leagues, going 23-29 with a 4.52 ERA (235 ER/467.2 IP) in 341 games. He was signed by the Dodgers on March 24 as a minor league free agent.

Greene will be sporting jersey number 25 this time around.

Cleavinger, 28, tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts against his former club last night. On the season, he is 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA (1 ER/2.2 IP) and four strikeouts in three games with the Dodgers. He has spent parts of three seasons in the Major Leagues, and he is a combined 2-4 with a 3.38 ERA (8 ER/21.1 IP) and 26 strikeouts in 26 career games. He was acquired by the Dodgers in a three-team trade from the Philadelphia Phillies on December 29, 2020.

Moronta, 29, tossed 2.0 scoreless innings last night against the Phillies. In seven games for the Dodgers this season, he was 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA (2 ER/8.0 IP) and seven strikeouts. He has spent parts of five seasons in the Major Leagues with San Francisco (2017-21) and Los Angeles (2022), and he is a combined 8-9 with a 2.63 ERA (44 ER/140.1 IP) and 169 strikeouts in 143 career games. He was signed by the Dodgers as a non-roster free agent on March 12, 2022.
