We hear it from the very first day of Spring Training to the very last:
“Spring Training games are Meaningless games.”
Try convincing 27-year-old former Dodgers and current Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager of this.
During Thursday’s “meaningless” Spring Training game between the two teams at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, AZ, the one time Dodgers fan-favorite smoked a fifth-inning solo home run to straightaway right field against his former team in what would end up being an embarrassing 12-1 rout of the team picked by many to walk away with the 2022 World Series trophy.
But did the Charlotte, NC native and Dodgers first-round draft pick in 2012 out of Northwest Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC say anything as he rounded the bases against the team that wouldn’t give him the 10-year/$325 million free-agent contract that the Rangers did?
“Oh, no. Nothing,” Rangers manager Chris Woodward said postgame. However, the former Dodgers third base coach quickly added that Seager did say something as he returned to the dugout but declined to repeat it.
Hmmm…
Although many Dodgers fans may feel anger towards Seager for leaving the Dodgers and perhaps even more so towards Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman for not topping the Rangers’ offer to bring him back, the bottom line is that baseball is – in the simplest of terms – a business. As such, and as Tom Cruise said in the hit movie ‘Moneyball,‘
Play Ball!

AJ for Kimbrel
I was just going to post that
I guess ct3 in LF with lamb, lux and Pillar and mckinstdy as backups
Rios will definitely get a roster spot, and with Hanser Alberto as the backup infielder the team may send down both McKinstry and Lux to start the season.
