I guess it was too much to ask that there would be any progress in negotiations between Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association towards a new Collective Bargaining Agreement when it was reported on Thursday that the two sides had resumed negotiations in New York; this after talks had broken off early Tuesday morning in Jupiter, FL.
Indeed it was.
Instead, baseball fans awoke Friday morning to Day-93 of the MLB lockout with little – or no – hope of seeing it end with only the first two series of the 2022 regular season having already been cancelled.
The Athletic‘s Evan Drellich (subscription required) tweeted on Thursday morning that MLB Deputy Commissioner Dan Halem and MLBPA lead negotiator Bruce Meyer had met to hopefully make some headway in the stalled talks, but they did not.
