by Ron Cervenka Each day that passes without a new Collective Bargaining Agreement in place between Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association is another proverbial nail in the coffin for Spring Training 2022 and even more so the 2022 regular season beginning as scheduled on February 14 and March 31 respectively. And while it may seem that we are beating a dead horse over this, the brutally painful truth is that barring a miracle, it’s looking more and more like neither will happen as scheduled.
The good news is that the two sides continue to meet in an effort to come up with a new CBA.
The bad news is they are miles apart on several key issues. This from The Athletic‘s Evan Drellich on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon:
As for that Ken Rosenthal thing, he merely retweeted Drellich’s above tweets.
Although hope most certainly springs eternal that 2022 Spring Training and the regular season will indeed begin as scheduled, baseball fans might want to begin making contingency plans in the event that they do not.

The mere thought of no Dodger Dogs on March 31 is rather disturbing.
If there is going to be federal arbitration then the fed guy should get the financials that teams refuse to share with the players.
Funny you should mention that. Former Dodger Alex Wood posted this on Twitter:
“How can MLB request for there to be a mediator from the Federal Government to help with negotiations when they literally haven’t even done any negotiating up to this point? Asking for a friend.”
Unfortunately, I do not see this ending anytime soon. Just my $.02.
