Seager in Pinstripes? Say It Ain’t So!

It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that 27-year-old shortstop Corey Seager has played his final game in a Dodger uniform.

In the simplest of terms, the Charlotte, NC native and Dodgers first-round draft pick in 2012 out of Northwest Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC has played – and priced – himself out of Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman‘s free-agent budget; and understandably so. After all, in addition to being the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year, Seager is a two-time All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger, and was the 2020 NLCS and World Series MVP. Add to this the fact that the extremely popular Dodgers shortstop had a very impressive .306/.394/.521/.915 slash line with 16 home runs and 57 RBI in the just-concluded 2021 regular season with an even more impressive seven-year MLB career slash line of .297/.367/.504/.870 with 104 career home runs and 364 career RBI, you begin to understand that ‘…priced himself out of Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman’s free-agent budget’ thing.

That said, and if you are one who buys into ESPN’s Buster Olney’s hype, hoopla, and not-always-accurate rumors, our beloved (apparently former) shortstop might be wearing pinstripes in 2022:

A pretty tough pill to swallow, isn’t it?

All of this said, regardless of where Corey Seager lands, it will be difficult to root against him.

…unless he happens to land in Oracle Park, of course.

Play Ball!

Will suck to lose him. Hope he does well unless he is playing against us.
