If you are among the 118.5 thousand who follow MLB Trade Rumors on Twitter, you are probably well aware that they are more of a re-tweeting site rather than the originators of the information that they post. That being said, their staff of ‘re-tweeters’ have arguably the best sources in the business; many of whom are well established and (usually) credible reporters and writers on the national level.
On Sunday evening, MLBTR (as it is affectionately known) posted this on Twitter:
As every baseball fan on the planet knows, the current MLB/MLB Players Association Collective Bargaining Agreement expires on December 1, 2021, at 11:59 p.m., and it is (very) widely assumed that MLB will immediately initiate a ‘lockout’ as soon as it does and prior to a new CBA being implemented.
Here again, if you follow MLBTR on Twitter, you have undoubtedly noticed that they have been very active over the past 24 hours. The reason, of course, is because there has been a lot of wheeling and dealing going on among baseball’s many free agents (and their respective agents), of which popular Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager is one.
Worth noting is that Seager’s agent is none other that Scott Boras, often referred to by many as “The Most Hated Man In Baseball” or “The Baseball Antichrist.” As such, there is zero doubt that Seager (and Boras) want to lock in a long term/high-dollar contract with a team – perhaps even the Dodgers – before that looming lockout.
If this is indeed the case, Monday, November 29, 2021, could very well be ‘Corey Seager Day.’
Stay tuned…
