Dodgers, LADF To Host 17th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway

Dodgers Players to help distribute 1,500 holiday meals for families in need

WHAT:          The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will host their 17th annual Community Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at Dodger Stadium on Friday afternoon. Dodger legend Fernando Valenzuela will join current Dodgers Justin Turner, Tony Gonsolin, Andrew Vasquez, Brusdar Graterol, Alex Vesia and Phil Bickford to distribute 1,500 Thanksgiving meals which include turkeys, and all the fixings in reusable canvas bags. Bags will be distributed to individual families in need as well as not-for-profit community organizations who will distribute them to Los Angeles-area families unable to make it to the stadium. Additionally, Levy Restaurants will provide all turkey dinner recipients with complimentary Dodger Dogs.

WHO: Vice President, External Affairs and Community Relations Naomi Rodriguez, Dodgers Legend Fernando Valenzuela, Dodgers Infielder Justin Turner, Dodgers Pitcher Phil Bickford, Dodgers Pitcher Tony Gonsolin, Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia, Dodgers Pitcher Brusdar Graterol, Dodgers Pitcher Andrew Vasquez.

WHERE: Dodger Stadium Lot P – 1000 Vin Scully Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90012

MISC:            The Dodgers have partnered with the offices of Mayor Eric Garcetti, Senator Maria Elena Durazo, Councilmember Gil Cedillo, Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, Congressman Jimmy Gomez, and Supervisor Hilda Solis for the turkey giveaway, with each office selecting organizations in its district to benefit. Turkeys and fixings are also being provided to pre-selected students in the Dodgers’ “Community of Schools,” a strategic community partnership to improve the education and wellness of children attending local Title 1 schools and living in communities surrounding Dodger Stadium. Additional beneficiaries include participants of Dodgers RBI (LADF’s sports-based youth development baseball and softball program), local residents from communities surrounding Dodgers Dreamfields and LADF grantees.
