Dodger fans will have a long, cold winter to think about what Atlanta Braves left fielder Eddie Rosario did to them in the 2021 National League Championship Series. You remember – the guy who went an insane 14-for-25 (.560) against them with one double, one triple, three home runs, and nine RBI in four games?
Well, guess what? The 30-year-old Guayama, Puerto Rico native, who was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Rafael Lopez Landron High School in Guayama, is at it again, this time on baseball’s biggest stage – the 2021 World Series – against the much-hated, admitted 2017 cheating Houston Astros … and Dodger fans are LOVING it!
In the bottom of the sixth inning of Game-4 of the Fall Classic on Saturday night at Truist Field in downtown Atlanta, the scrappy Braves left fielder hit a one-out double into the right field corner. He came around to score the Braves first run of the night on two-out single to left by Braves third baseman Austin Riley to make it a (then) 2-1 Houston lead.
With his double on Saturday night, Rosario now has 23 hits this postseason, the most in a single postseason by a Puerto Rican-born player.
For good measure and also as he did against the Dodgers in the NLCS, Rosario made a specular defensive play.
With two-outs in the top of the eighth inning, Rosario made an impossible running catch in the left field corner to rob much-disliked (by Dodger fans) Astros second baseman Jose Altuve of a sure double.
Just how big was Rosario’s double and run scored? Well, Atlanta went on to win the game by a score of 3-2, thanks to back-to-back solo home runs by Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson and pinch-hitter Jorge Soler in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Atlanta a commanding three-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven 2021 World Series.
Please don’t misunderstand. By no means is this to suggest that Dodger fans are now fans of the Braves and their insanely annoying tomahawk chop. It is merely to say that for as much as Dodger fans dislike the team that ruined their chance to ‘Repeat LA,’ they absolutely loathe the cheating Astros.
In other words…
Go Braves!
