The Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly claimed 23-year-old right-hander Edwin Uceta off waivers from the Dodgers.
Although there has been no official announcement from either team yet, Uceta himself thanked the Dodgers and expressed gratitude to the D-backs on Instagram on Tuesday night.
Uceta was designated for assignment by the Dodgers during the 2021 National League Championship Series to make room on their roster for infielder Andy Burns following Justin Turner’s hamstring injury in Game-4.
The Villa Los Almacigos, Dominican Republic native made his major league debut with the Dodgers in 2021 but pitched only 20.1 innings in 25 games over several MLB call-ups, during which he went 0-3 with a less-than-stellar 6.64 ERA. He allowed three home runs while striking out 25 and walking 12.
