It was short and (relatively) sweet.
Twenty-seven-year-old Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin made a rehab start with the team’s Low Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in the first game of a doubleheader at LoanMart Field on Saturday afternoon, as he works his way back from right shoulder inflammation.
Gonsolin made a total of 41 pitches (25 strikes) against 11 Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) batters in his 2.1 innings of work, allowing one earned run on three hits (two singles and a triple), with one walk and one strikeout.
Although the Quakes won Game-1 of the twin bill by a score of 7-6, Gonsolin did not figure in the decision. The Rancho squad dropped the second game in extras (eight innings) by a score of 1-0.
It is unclear what the Dodgers next move will be with the Vacaville, CA native and Dodgers ninth-round draft pick in 2016 out of Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, but he will probably make at least one more rehab start and could possibly rejoin the Dodgers next week.
Stay tuned…
