by Ron Cervenka If you are among those wondering where Dodgers outfielder AJ Pollock was during Monday night’s disastrous 10-inning 5-3 loss to the NL East last-place Cincinnati Reds at Dodger Stadium and wondering why he is not in Tuesday’s starting lineup against those same Reds, you are not alone.
During his pregame Zoom media briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was asked if his 33-year-old outfielder was alright.
“So, AJ had a little kind of, I don’t know if it was a bout with food poisoning or a little 24-hour stomach bug, was down yesterday trying to rehydrate, body obviously wasn’t in a good place, unavailable,” Roberts answered. “And today he’s back trying to get his strength back, so we just felt that the best course of action was to let him get his strength back, break a sweat, be ready to come in and take an at-bat or play defense tonight and be in the lineup tomorrow.”
In the 20 games that Pollock has appeared thus far this season, he is 15-for-62 (.242), with one home run, three doubles, and five RBI. His 20 strikeouts are tied for most on the team with utility infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor.
