Where Were You One Year Ago Today?

February 4, 2020 – It was a Tuesday morning in the City of Angels roughly one month before the worst pandemic the world has seen in over 100 years ‘officially’ broke out. Here’s what it was and how we first learned about it:

It would soon prove to be the biggest trade of the Dodgers (eventual) 60-game/COVID-19-shortened 2020 season … and quite possibly in franchise history.

During that extremely challenging 2020 regular season, Mookie Betts would slash .292/.366/.562/.927, with nine doubles, one triple, 16 home runs, 39 RBI, and 10 stolen bases; and during the 2020 World Series, .269/.321/.577/.898, with two doubles, two home runs, three RBI, and four stolen bases, to help his new team to their first World Series title in 32 years.

In addition to being a phenomenal player, Betts continues to prove himself a phenomenal person and teammate. (Video capture courtesy of Fox Sports)

Five months later, on July 22, 2020, Betts would sign a 12-year/$365 million contract extension that will keep him in a Dodger uniform through the 2032 season.

…and it all began one year ago today.
