Now Is Not A Good Time For Dodgers to be Bad

At 30-12, the Dodgers have the best record in all of baseball with 18 games left to play in the COVID-29-shortened 2020 regular season. They have also won seven of their last 10 games.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that they lost their last two games (and their first series of the season) to the NL West fourth-place Colorado Rockies – at Dodger Stadium – this past weekend.

The worse news is that in their last 20 games (since August 23), they have committed 16 of their 24 total errors thus far this season.

Realistically, 24 total errors through 42 games (in 1,547 total chances) isn’t all that bad; in fact, it currently ranks eighth in the National League and gives the Dodgers a very respectable .984 overall fielding percentage. However, those 16 errors in their last 20 games has Dodgers fans a little uncomfortable in their self-quarantined seats of late.

Topping the list with five errors thus far is Dodgers utility infielder/outfielder Kiké Hernandez, followed by shortstop Corey Seager and third baseman Justin Turner with four apiece. Next comes right fielder Mookie Betts and utility infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor with two each. Seven other Dodgers have committed one error.

In addition to his current .223 batting average, Hernandez leads the Dodgers in errors with five.

In no way is this a panic or ‘cry wolf’ situation, not by any means. It is merely to say that now is not the time for the Dodgers usually-stellar defense to sputter.

Let’s tighten it up, boys.

Play Ball!

  1. The one thing that bothers me the most is how well the Padres are playing. With guys like Tatis jr and Machado among others, going the way they are, they look like a tough team to beat.
Here’s hoping the Dodgers can keep going well the rest of the way.

  2. Brooklyn stop worrying. It was two games, no JT 1 game without Betts. We are better
