Late Sunday evening, it was reported on Twitter that the Dodgers had signed their one remaining unsigned draft pick from the COVID-19-shortened five-round 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft held on June 10. Ironically – but not surprisingly in today’s social media-driven world – that word came from the draftee himself, 21-year-old right-hander Clayton Beeter, who tweeted this:
Beeter was selected in Competitive Balance Round B as the 66th overall pick, the result of the Kenta Maeda trade to the Minnesota Twins on February 10, a mere three weeks before Spring Training-1 was shut down due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
Although the amount that the Fort Worth, TX native and former Texas Tech Masked Rider signed for was not included in his tweet, it is believed to be at or near the $1,003,300 for which it was slotted.
With the signing, the Dodgers have now signed all six players they selected in the 2020 Draft as follows:
- Bobby Miller – 1st round, 29th overall. Slot value: $2,424,600 (Signed for $2.2MM)
- Landon Knack – 2nd-round, 60th overall. Slot value: $1,157,400 (Signed for $715K)
- Clayton Beeter, Competitive Balance Round B, 66th overall. Slot value: $1,003,300)
- Jake Vogel, 3rd-round, 100th overall. Slot value: $581.6K (Signed for $1,622,500)
- Carson Taylor, 4th-round, 130th overall. Slot value: $434.3K (Signed for $400K)
- Gavin Stone, 5th-round, 159th overall. Slot value: $327.2K (Signed for $100K)
Welcome to the Dodger Fam, Clayton!
