It was being widely report early Wednesday morning that the Dodgers are nearing a multi-million-dollar contract extension with four-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glover, three-time Silver Slugger, 2018 AL MVP, 2018 MLB Player of the Year, 2018 Wilson Overall Defensive Player of the Year and 2018 World Series champion Mookie Betts.

Although there has been no official word from either side (nor is one expected before a deal is done), indications are that it could happen before the first pitch of the Dodgers 2020 season opener, set for 7:08 P.M. PT on Thursday, July 23.

If true and if the rumored numbers are accurate, the 27-year-old Nashville, TN native and fifth-round draft pick in 2011 by the Boston Red Sox out of Overton High School in Nashville could become the highest-paid player in Major League Baseball, topping the current 12-year / $426.5 million contract of Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout.

Fantastic news! Love the front office and their development of young talent and locking up Mookie. Now lets go get that coveted World Series Championship
Great deal. Great player.
All I can say is, WOW!! The Dodgers landed their franchise-level, right-handed power bat to perfectly mix in with their enormous depth. Can’t wait to see what he can do in LA over a normal season.
But when will MLB play a regular length, 162 game, season again? My bet is 2022, but I hope I’m wrong on the short end.
