During Saturday night’s AM 570 podcast on Twitter, show host David Vassegh had former Dodgers general manager and current SportsNet LA analyst Ned Colletti on as his guest.
Needless to say, it didn’t take Vassegh long to get the man who helped construct a Dodgers dynasty and farm system that won seven consecutive National League West Division championships to weigh in on the current coronavirus-delayed 2020 MLB season.
“It’s really a mystery that nobody’s going to know the answer to until they actually see it take place,” Colletti said of plans to possibly resume a significantly shortened 2020 regular season. “I think for some, the break was good; for those that were battling injury and weren’t going to be able to start the season, yeah, that gives them more time and more of a pace to gradually get to where they need to be.
“For those who were ready to go, to shut it off again and then turn it back on, I think in some cases that’s going to be a different dynamic,” the former Dodgers executive added. “Some players opted for surgery when they saw that this was coming – be it a long recovery like a Tommy John [surgery] or something shorter to use the time – and I think that there will be some that do benefit from it. But it’s something that I’m curious to watch and see how it goes.
Whether you are a fan of the sometimes antagonistic Dodgers reporter and AM 570 podcast host or not, Vassegh definitely has a knack for getting those who he interviews to open up.
