Dodger fans have been waiting for this very moment – an announcement of hope that we will get to see our Dodger team in uniform and ready to play ball. On Monday afternoon, we received that announcement of hope.
Governors from New York, California, and Texas announced on Monday that professional sports could resume in their respective states in the near future.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we haven’t been able to get our daily (or hourly) fix of our beloved Dodgers, and we have all been feeling – and dealing – with that loss in our own personal and painful way. But on Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom said sports could return “(the) first week or so of June without spectators and modifications, and very prescriptive conditions.”
But don’t run out and buy your case of sunflower seeds just yet; Major league Baseball is still working out a plan with the MLB Players Association to restart the season and it is believed that this plan will prohibit sunflower seeds, dip, and spitting of any type in ballparks across the country.
As much as we all want to see baseball back again, let’s do it with caution. It might take longer than we want or had hoped for, but it paramount that we restart baseball – and all professional sports – with the health and safety of the players and staff in mind.
