The inevitable has happened. Early Thursday afternoon, Major League Baseball officially suspended all remaining 2020 Spring Training games and delayed the start of the 2020 regular season by at least two weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Following a conference call with all 30 MLB teams, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred made the anticipated moves official.
“MLB has decided to suspend Spring Training Games and to delay the start of the 2020 regular season by at least two weeks due to the national emergency created by the coronavirus pandemic,” Manfred said via the official MLB Press release.

I think the worse part of this is we’ve never gone through anything quite like this before.
Well, at least Janet Marie Smith can relax and take a breather now… although we all knew she was up to the task from the beginning.
This sucks…
Great to hear from you, Kevin! I hope you and Leslie are doing well.
First let me say that preventative health precautions is the correct thing to do in this pandemic. On the selfish side, my husband and I usually only get 1 vacation a year and it is to Spring Training. We were leaving on Saturday for 9 glorious nights with 7 games and evenings with friends in Arizona. So I’m “crying in my soup” and praying for everyone’s health.
I was soooo looking forward to having dinner with you and Jim at Cracker Barrel. I’m crying in my chicken fried steak.
Best thing to do at this time.
I heard today that Angel Hernandez passed a group of baseball writers and said, “I’ll see you in June.”
The good news is, I’ve never heard of him getting anything right.
The bad news is, I’ve never heard of him getting anything right.
Personally, I’ll go with the good news.
This is Breaking News right here.
