As the City of Angels slowly begins to recover from the devastating loss of one of its most iconic and beloved sports legends, it’s time to pull ourselves up, get back on our feet, brush ourselves off, give each other a much-needed hug and begin moving forward again, especially with Dodgers pitchers and catchers due to report for spring training in just two short weeks.
… and not a moment too soon.
On Friday, February 14 – Valentine’s Day – Dodgers pitchers and catchers will report to Camelback Ranch in Glendale, AZ, marking the official beginning of the 2020 Major League Baseball season; although many (most) of them have already been there for days (or weeks), as have a great many position players, who technically are not scheduled to report until February 17.
As of this writing, there will be 21 pitchers and three catchers currently on the Dodgers 40-man roster in major league camp, along with an additional nine pitchers and three catchers who received non-roster invitations to big league camp.
In addition to watching the daily bullpen sessions and Pitchers Fielding Practice (PFP) drills, savvy Dodger fans wise enough to make the 362-mile/near six-hour drive from Los Angeles to the crown jewel of the Cactus League are often rewarded with autographs from their favorite pitchers and catchers; or even from the many Dodgers position players who often arrive in camp before being required to do so – and there will be many.
The Dodgers 2020 slogan says it all:
Play Ball!
