ThinkBlue LA has learned from a trusted source that Dodgers highly-touted right-handed pitching prospect Edwin Uceta has been promoted from the Advanced Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.
The 21-year-old Villa Los Almacigos, Dominican Republic native and Dodgers 28th overall-ranked prospect (by Baseball America) appeared in 10 games (all starts) with the Quakes this season, posting a 4-0 record and very impressive 2.15 ERA over his combined 50.1 innings of work. He struck out 65 while walking only 16 for an equally impressive 4.06 strikeouts-to-walk (SO/W) ratio, while allowing only six home runs.
Uceta last appeared this past Thursday night against the Inland Empire 66ers (Angels) at LoanMart Field, where he allowed two runs on three hits (one a home run), while striking out nine of the 21 batters he faced over his five innings pitched. His promotion was not unexpected, as noted by ThinkBlue LA’s Jesse Pearce back on May 20.
Dodger fans who like to keep tabs on what’s happening down on the farm will definitely want to keep a close eye on Uceta, as he figures to be a rising star within the Dodgers organization.

Congrats to Uceta for being promoted to AA Tulsa. Truthfully speaking, I was expecting LHP Leo Crawford (who put up arguably his best start of the season for Rancho last night in the Quakes’ 7-2 victory over Inland Empire and has pretty much come all the way back from nagging blister problems that hindered him back in April with a dominant month of May) to get the promotion. Something tells me the Dodger front office is positioning Uceta for a possible flip at the trade deadline for that long-elusive high-leverage power arm for the pen. If so, it’s about time they did! We shall soon see if my suspicions are correct on that front. That said, this move is also good news in the sense that sleeper prospect Andre Jackson (pitching nearly as well as Josiah Gray did for Low-A Great Lakes before his promotion to Rancho not too long ago) will soon be on his way up as well. Dodgers putting together a very good track record of developing pitchers that were former position players, which Jackson also happens to be.
@Dodgers @RCQuakes Mmmmm, no thanks. I’d like him to stay in Rancho 👍🏻😁
