Early Sunday morning, ThinkBlueLA learned that Dodgers right-hander Dennis Santana will join the team in Denver for Sunday’s series finale against the Colorado Rockies.
Although there has been no official announcement from the team about the move, nor is a corresponding roster move yet known, speculation is that it will be struggling right-hander Brock Stewart, who has allowed eight runs on nine hits, including two home runs, while walking two and striking out three in his 4.0 innings of relief through the team’s first nine games. In his three appearances thus far, Stewart has a team-worst 18.00 ERA and opposing batters are hitting .529 against him.
Santana, who was assigned to the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City Dodgers out of spring training but has not yet had an appearance, was one of two starters / long relievers initially considered to begin the season with the Dodgers in the absence of starters Clayton Kershaw and Rich Hill. The Dodgers ultimately opted for the 27-year-old Stewart over the soon-to-be (on April 12) 23-year-old Santana.
As Dodger fans may recall, the San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic native made his MLB debut with the Dodgers on June 1, 2018 against the Rockies at Coors Field in relief of “opener” Scott Alexander. Santana picked up the win despite allowing five runs on six hits. He did, however, strike out four while walking only one in his 3.2 innings of work. It was Santana’s only major league appearance with the Dodgers thus far.

UPDATE: The Dodgers have made the move official and it is indeed Brock Stewart who was reassigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City as the corresponding roster move.
But is it still possible Kelly is going on the 10 Day and that is the corresponding move, not Brock?
Certainly a possibility, but by all appearances it will be Stewart. As noted in the piece, it was pretty much a coin toss between Stewart and Santana to begin the season. The Dodgers called heads and it came up tails, if you get my drift. We will (should) know for sure within the next few hours.
The thing to keep in mind is that this is going to be a (very) temporary thing. Dennis and (presumably) Yimi will be optioned back to OKC as soon as Kershaw and Hill return, with Stripling and Urias headed to the bullpen.
I think Yimi is out of options.
I believe you are correct. All indications point to Brock.
Awesome We were there for his Debut. A little shaky but he settled in. Hit a Triple too
It is impossible not to absolutely love Dennis Santana. He reminds me a great deal of former fan-favorite Jose Lima, who was taken from us WAY too soon.
#LimaTime!
This guy is Exciting! Hopefully the next in a growing list of position player converts!
The fact that Yimi is out of options certainly plays into him still being here and of course in last night’s game. Roberts loves Baez so if I were to guess he will remain and be trotted out there like he already has been so far. It’s a good thing the Dodgers HAVE HIT 22 HR’s because there are maybe 3 NL teams at best who’s staffs have already allowed more
2019 HR Tracker so far:

“Santana picked up the win despite allowing five runs on six hits.”
Yep, Coors Field.
