Utility infielder / outfielder Connor Joe has officially rejoined the Dodgers organization and will be assigned to either the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers or the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.
The 26-year-old San Diego native and 2014 first-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of UC San Diego was snatched away from the Dodgers (who had acquired him in September 2017 for international bonus slot money) in the Rule-5 Draft on December 13, 2018 by the Cincinnati Reds. He was subsequently traded by the Reds to the talent-starved San Francisco Giants at the end of spring training. But with only one hit in his 16 major league at-bats (.067), Joe was Designated for Assignment by San Francisco on April 8, along with extremely popular fellow Dodgers Rule-5 snatchee Drew Jackson, who was also returned to the Dodgers on April 11.
As required by Rule-5 regulations, the Reds paid $100,000 to the Dodgers to acquire Joe, but the Dodgers must only send $50,000 to the Giants to reacquire him. Along with Jackson, the Dodgers add two utility players for organizational depth while pocketing $100,000 for their troubles.
In 2018 Joe had a breakout season with the bat, splitting time between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He posted a cumulative slash-line of .299 / .408 / .527 / .935, with 17 home runs, 55 RBI, and 69 runs scored with Tulsa and OKC. His right-handed bat and defensive versatility will be a welcome addition to the organization.
Welcome Back, Connor!

Good for OKC, now they got some extra firepower to work with in that lineup. Btw, Tulsa club just finished a 10-inning NO-HITTER…and ended up losing 1-0 on a bases-loaded walk (ha!). Mitchell White started that game and he was outstanding in his four innings of work as he continues to get stretched out. Probably the second time I’ve witnessed a no-hit loss in my lifetime so far…
