What a way to start the 2019 season!
Outstanding pitching performance by Hyun-Jin Ryu: six innings, four hits, one earned run, no walks, and eight strike outs. Kershaw-esque, if you please.
- Major League Baseball-record eight home runs in pitcher friendly Dodger Stadium, on March 28 no less – not a hot and humid night in August when the ball flies further.
- Only three strike outs by Dodgers hitters. Very impressive.
- Quality at-bats by hitters using the whole field. Refreshing.
- Defense was fun to watch, several very nice plays in support of the pitchers. Shout out to Max Muncy, whose play at first base was solid, if not Gold Glove caliber.
- Corey Seager is BACK!
Just the first game in a long regular season, but the Dodgers delivered a “powerful” message in its pursuit of a seventh straight NL West championship and third consecutive trip to the World Series. The message was delivered not only the other NL West teams, but to all other twenty-nine MLB teams, who undoubtedly took notice.
Game-2 tonight. GO DODGERS!
By the way, if “Kershaw-esque” is not in the dictionary, it should be.

I’ve watched the Dodgers many times on opening days but beyond a shadow of a doubt, this has to be the best opening day game I’ve ever watched. Ryu was outstanding and you can’t beat 8 home runs by the Dodgers.
Yes indeed! This should be a great season for Dodgers fans.
