Dodgers add more relief pitching depth

The Dodgers have acquired 27-year-old right-hander Jaime Schultz from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for 22-year-old right-hander Caleb Sampen.

Schultz made 22 appearances (one start) with the Rays in 2018, going 2-2 with a 5.64 ERA, while striking out 35 and walking 17. In six minor league seasons, the Albany, New York native posted a combined record of 22-17 with a 3.57 ERA, while limiting hitters to a .230 batting average. The 5′-10″ / 200-pound right-hander was originally selected by the Rays in the 14th round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of High Point University in High Point, North Carolina..

Sampen appeared in 13 games (11 starts) for the Dodgers Pioneer Rookie League Ogden Raptors in 2018, where he posted an 0-2 record and 5.04 ERA, striking out 43 and walking nine. The Brownsburg, Indiana native was selected by the Dodgers in the 20th round of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

The Dodgers currently have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
