With exactly one month until pitchers and catchers report for spring training, the Dodgers currently have 39 guys on their 40-man roster.
Now obviously this isn’t a hard number and the 39 names (plus one) that we see today on that 40-man roster absolutely will not be the same 39 names (plus one) that we will see on February 12. But for the most part, what we see is what we are going to get.
With rumors running rampant that the Dodgers are still looking for another top-tier starter and / or another reliever(s), or even another right-handed power bat (say… like… Bryce Harper‘s), it is quite possible that the 40th (and currently final) roster spot will remain vacant for much of those next 30 days to allow a spot for them to plug someone in. Then again, additional spots can – and undoubtedly will – be made on the 40-man roster if (when) any trades occur between now and February 12.
The good news – great, actually – is that if the regular season were to start today, our beloved Dodgers are in an excellent position to win their seventh consecutive National League West title, which is what many (most) so-called baseball experts are predicting. But, as every baseball fan on the planet knows all too well, the game is played on the field, not on paper.
…or on a computer database.
Stay tuned…

“…or on a computer database.” This is everything!
“…a RH power bat (…like…Bryce Harper’s)” — If it were only true that he hit RH.
Gale, Garcia, Stewart all on borrowed time for spots on 40 man roster
Only one thing I can say here about what this 40 man roster will be like by ST…..WSS (We shall see.
