The Dodgers will celebrate their 2017 pennant-winning season with a special pregame video tribute and National League championship ring ceremony prior to their 6:10 p.m. game on Saturday, March 31 against the San Francisco Giants, the team announced today.
The Dodgers won a record fifth consecutive National League West title in 2017, while setting a Los Angeles record with 104 wins. In the postseason, the Dodgers swept the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Division Series before defeating the Chicago Cubs, 4-1, in the NLCS to advance to the World Series, where they fell to the Houston Astros in seven games.
The Dodgers will begin the 2018 season on Opening Day presented by Bank of America on March 29, and will take on the Giants in an eventful four-game Opening Series at Dodger Stadium:
- Thursday, March 29, 4:08 p.m.: Opening Day ceremonies will celebrate the Dodgers’ 60 years in Los Angeles, including a salute to the 30th anniversary of the 1988 World Champions and a ceremonial first pitch by Kirk Gibson. The team will also partner with the Kirk Gibson Foundation (more information: kirkgibsonfoundation.org) to raise awareness and support for Parkinson’s Disease research, with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) donating the proceeds of the 50/50 raffle.
- Friday, March 30, 7:10 p.m.: A surprise addition to the promotional schedule, the first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance will receive a special edition Kirk Gibson bobblehead presented by Bank of America and fans can also enjoy the season’s first Friday Night Fireworks presented by Denny’s. The Dodgers’ game-worn jerseys from Friday’s game along with 88 limited-edition autographed bobbleheads will be auctioned off by LADF online from April 9-30 with proceeds going to the Kirk Gibson Foundation.
- Saturday, March 31, 6:10 p.m.: The Dodgers will honor the 2017 pennant-winning team with a special pregame video tribute and a National League championship ring presentation ceremony.
- Sunday, April 1, 5:37 p.m.: The series concludes with a nationally-televised finale.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early throughout the Opening Series, as large crowds are expected for all four games.
