For true 100 percent pure baseball fans, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, worse than the off-season.
…or so we thought.
On Tuesday night, MLB Network, in their infinite wisdom, decided to re-broadcast Game-7 of the 2017 World Series between the Dodgers and Astros. And while this may have gone over well with the half dozen Astros fans in the world, (ok… maybe that was a bit harsh), it absolutely positively and unequivocally did not go over well with the millions of Dodger fans.
On an otherwise quiet Tuesday night in the Twitterverse – at least for die-hard baseball fans who could care less about the latest basketball, football or perhaps even hockey scores – Canada’s biggest Dodger fan Gail Johnson from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, who lives a mere 3,473 miles from Dodger Stadium, made it perfectly clear in four short words that there was no way on earth that she was going to subject herself to reliving what was arguably one of the most painful Dodger losses in franchise history, especially for Dodger fans born after the 1988 World Series who have yet to witness a Dodgers world championship in their lifetime.
Within minutes, Gail’s simple “I’d rater not, thanks” tweet got the collective juices flowing among Dodgers fans which, in turn, generated numerous other comments that mirrored her opinion … including one from yours truly:
Sore losers? Sour grapes?
Perhaps.
…but like sour grapes, there are a bunch of them.
This has noting to do with game seven, but I’m wondering if the Astros have sent a World Series ring to Bill Miller yet.
He certainly deserved one.
Then again, the series would have been over in six had Bill Miller not been a part of it.
Sour grapes? No, it’s called reality. Yeah, I’m still bitter.
When there’s something I don’t want to see, I just don’t watch it.
There simply are no words.
