Turner named to 2017 All-Star Game after record-setting Final Vote effort

Dodgers Third basemen Justin Turner has been voted into the 2017 MLB All-Star Game by fans through a hotly contested and spirited Final Vote campaign that included round-the-clock on-line voting by the popular Pantone 294 Dodgers fan group and a seven-hour final voting period on Twitter.

Turner tallied a record-setting 20.8 million votes to surpass the previous record mark of 19.7 million set by Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman in 2013. It will be Turner’s first trip to the Midsummer Classic, which will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 5:00 pm PT at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida. The game will be televised nationally on Fox.

This year’s MLB All-Star Game Final Vote once again came right down to the wire over its final few hours and minutes, and had Twitter votes coming in by the thousands per minute. Ironically, the top two candidates receiving the most Twitter votes were Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant and Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts, both of whom finished second overall in their respective leagues’ voting. This most certainly supports the fact that the on-line voting – spearheaded by the Pantone 294 – was the difference in Turner making the 2017 National League All-Star team instead of watching the game on television.

Well done, JT!

…and great job, Pantone 294!
