Dodger fans who are also fans of the franchise’s Advanced Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have had what can only be described as a banner year thus far this season for getting to see a plethora of rehabbing Dodgers at LoanMart Field – and we’re not even 45 games into the 2017 season yet.
Through the first 42 Dodger games and 41 Quakes game, there have already been four Dodgers position players (Adrian Gonzalez, Franklin Gutierrez, Logan Forsythe and Joc Pederson) and three pitchers (Rich Hill, Grant Dayton and Josh Ravin) who have rehabbed with Quakes manager Drew Saylor’s Rancho squad.
Well you can add another name to that list.
On Thursday afternoon, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that 29-year-old Dodgers right-hander Kenta Maeda will make a four-inning rehab start for the Quakes at LoanMart Field when they open a three-game series against the Cal League North second-place Visalia Rawhide (Dbacks).
If the Dodgers follow their current rotation schedule and if things go well for the Senboku-gun, Japan native, that start against the Cardinals – who are only a game back of NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers – will more than likely happen on Thursday, May 25, this because of the Dodgers scheduled off day on Monday, May 22.
Right-hander Adam Bray, who was initially scheduled to start tonight’s game for the Cal League South first-place Quakes, will follow Maeda on the mound. And while most starting pitchers would prefer to start their own clean game, with Maeda scheduled to go only four innings, Bray will immediately enter tonight’s game as the (likely) pitcher of record – barring a no-decision, of course.
Tickets for tonight’s Quakes – Rawhide game can be purchased on-line via the Quakes website. The game can also be heard live on-line via TuneIn Radio or on Fox Sports Radio 1350 AM via the iHeart Radio app.
