With Dodgers pitchers and catchers set to report to spring training next week, SportsNet LA has announced the team’s programming and broadcasting line-up for live 2017 Dodgers Spring Training coverage.
SportsNet LA, the exclusive 24/7 TV network of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will televise 16 Dodgers Spring Training games, beginning with the club’s first contest on February 25 at 12:05 pm PT against the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch.
SportsNet LA’s comprehensive coverage will bring fans a live televised Dodgers game every Saturday in addition to multiple games each weekend throughout spring training. Saturday games will include match-ups against the Dodgers’ cross-town rivals, the Angels, as well as contests against the Athletics, Cubs, Rangers and White Sox. Midweek match ups on SportsNet LA will include a night game against the Dodgers’ NL West rival, the Giants, as well as a rematch of the 2016 National League Championship Series against the Cubs. SportsNet LA will also televise all three of the “Freeway Series” exhibition games from March 30-April 1.
Studio programming for SportsNet LA this spring will include the network’s flagship program, Access SportsNet: Dodgers, providing complete coverage of the team throughout the season. Access SportsNet: Dodgers will lead off the network’s live spring training coverage on Wednesday, February 15 at 7 pm PT. The program will air a new live episode five days a week throughout spring training. Access SportsNet: Dodgers will showcase all the latest Dodgers news, highlights and exclusive interviews with Dodgers players, coaches and staff.
Access SportsNet: Dodgers will again be hosted by John Hartung, Alanna Rizzo and Kelli Tennant and will feature analysis from Orel Hershiser, Nomar Garciaparra, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Ned Colletti. Rizzo will be on-site in Arizona to provide daily analysis, special reports and exclusive Dodger interviews.
Dodgers Spring Training coverage on the network will include SportsNet LA’s signature Backstage: Dodgers series that will take fans behind the scenes as the club comes together before the regular season. Backstage: Dodgers will debut a new season on Thursday, February 23 at 8 pm PT and will air a new episode every Thursday throughout spring training.
In the booth for SportsNet LA this spring will be Joe Davis and analyst Orel Hershiser as well as veteran broadcasters Charley Steiner and Rick Monday. Davis returns for his second season with the Dodgers and first in a full-time play-by-play role while Hershiser returns for his fourth season on the SportsNet LA team. Steiner enters his 13th season as a play-by-play announcer for the Dodgers while Monday enters his 25th season with the club.
