by Ron Cervenka It was a late addition to the Dodgers 2016 list of promotional giveaway items but it will undoubtedly be among the most popular of the season, if not of all time – the Vin Scully Limited Edition Commemorative Coin – which will be given away to the first 50,000 fans at the Saturday, September 24, 2016 6:10 pm (PT) game against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium.

“This is a must-have collectors item, not only for Dodger fans but for Vin Scully fans,” said David Baltazar, a longtime Dodgers season ticket holder from Long Beach, California. “What makes it even more special for memorabilia collectors is that each coin is individually numbered.”
As of this writing there were still tickets available for what will undoubtedly be a sellout, but if you are interested in getting this rare, one-of-a-kind piece of Dodgers history, you might not want to wait too long to get your tickets via the Dodgers website.

I know life isn’t always fair, but it sure would have been appreciated if there was a way for those of us who grew up listening to Vin (me since 58), but no longer live in LA and cannot get to the game, to be able to acquire one of these coins. I have a lot of Dodger memorabilia, but this would be one of the most (if not THE most) cherished of all.
They’re going for (about) $50 on eBay but you better hurry, as this price will probably soon go up.
