MLB.com Dodgers beat reporter Ken Gurnick is reporting that the Dodgers have released 31-year-old right-hander Bud Norris.
The Dodgers acquired the Greenbrae, California native from the Atlanta Braves (along with outfielder Dian Toscano, pitcher Alec Grosser and cash) on June 30, 2016 in exchange for minor leaguer pitchers Caleb Dirks and Phil Pfeifer.
Norris appeared in 13 games for the Dodgers (nine starts) posting a 3-3 record and 6.54 ERA in 42.2 innings pitched, during which he struck out 42 and walked 21. Like most Dodger pitchers he also landed on the disabled list for a mild back strain on August 1 but was reactivated on August 19 and assigned to the Dodgers bullpen. He was designated for assignment on September 20 to clear a spot on the Dodgers 40-man roster for returning left-hander Alex Wood (left triceps soreness).
That trade didn’t work out very well.
I reckon not. Throw-ins don’t look very impressive either, unless there’s something the stats don’t tell us.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you go home and cry.
