Dodgers – Quakes make Player Development Contract extension official

After reporting that a two-year extension of the Player Development Contract (PDC) between the Dodgers and the Advanced Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes was imminent a week ago, the two parties officially announced the extension on Thursday evening prior to the Quakes game at LoanMart Field. The contract extension will run through the 2018 season

“The relationship with the City of Rancho Cucamonga couldn’t be more perfect and the relationship with the front office here in Rancho couldn’t be better,” said Dodgers director of player development Gabe Kapler. “This is perfect for us. An agreement with all of our affiliates fell just right.”

The Dodgers announced on August 3 that they had signed two-year PDC extensions with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Double-A Tulsa Drillers and the Low Single-A Great Lakes Loons to continue their respective partnerships through the 2018 season. With the agreement now finalized with the Advanced Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, only an agreement with the Ogden Raptors of the short season Pioneer Rookie League remains unsigned.

“We still have to address our situation in the Pioneer League with Ogden,” Kapler said. “It’s one of those things that we’ll address internally and talk about publicly at the appropriate time.”
