by Ron Cervenka Just as they have done for the past eight years, the Dodgers will once again host their annual ‘Select-A-Seat’ event on Thursday and Friday, January 28 and 29 at Dodger Stadium.
The Select-A-Seat event allows current Dodgers season ticket holders the opportunity to exchange or upgrade their season seat locations based on seat availability from former season ticket holders who did not renewed their season seats by the January 5 deadline. Select-A-Seat appointment dates and times are based on season ticket holder seniority.

“I probably won’t be changing my (season) seats,” says 20-year season ticket holder David Baltazar of Long Beach. “I’m already in Row-A in the Left Field Pavilion, but you just never know when something better might become available. I haven’t missed a Select-A-Seat event yet and always look forward to my first Dodger Dog of the New Year.”
In 2015 the Dodgers increased the number of season seats to 35,000 and in spite of a price increases in some areas, they sold out rather quickly. In fact, the Dodgers reached the three million attendance mark (based on season ticket and mini plan sales) even before the first pitch of the 2015 season was thrown.
Because of the extremely high number of season ticket holders who have already renewed their seats for 2016, the Dodgers have notified them that they may not be able to add any seats to an existing account and, in certain locations, the opportunity to upgrade may not be available. Such is the price you pay when you have a team that includes guys named Clayton Kershaw, Adrian Gonzalez and Corey Seager.
You just never know who you might run into at the annual Select-A-Seat event.

Season ticket holders who are unable to make their scheduled Select-A-Seat appointments on Thursday or Friday will have one last opportunity to exchange or upgrade their season seats on Saturday, January 30 during the Dodgers fourth annual FanFest event, which will once again be held inside Dodger Stadium.
Fans wishing to add their name to the Dodgers season ticket holder waiting list can do so by calling a season ticket representative at 866-DODGERS.

So, they’ve sold 35,000 already? Do they close season ticket sales after that number?
The Dodgers are allotted 35,000 season seats (that number is actually set by MLB). Not all of the 2015 season ticket holders renewed (especially since prices went up by 20% across the board and even more in some areas).
Existing STH’s get first crack at the unrenewed (is that a word?) seats at Select-A-Seat. Season seats not sold at Select-A-Seat are then offered to those on the STH waiting list in the order in which they are on the list. Anything left over after that (and there probably won’t be any) are available to whoever wants them.
As crazy as it may sound, Dodgers tickets are still cheaper than many other MLB teams; it just doesn’t feel like it.

Just curious, do you think they will sell the allotted 35,000 even with the price increase? I read recently the Dodgers were 12th on the FCI. With a 20% increase they will probably move up the list.
