Last week Rancho Cucamonga Quakes second baseman Brandon Trinkwon said that he was honored to be selected to represent the Dodgers Advanced Single-A affiliate in the upcoming 2015 California League – Carolina League All-Star Game, especially since the event was being hosted at his team’s home ballpark.

“It’s an honor, it’s fun,” Trinkwon said. “It’s nice being able to play at home as well, in front of the fans that watch you all season.”

On Tuesday night Trinkwon rewarded those loyal fans at Rancho Cucamonga’s beautiful LoanMart Field by leading the California League All-Stars to a 9-2 win over the Carolina League All-Stars in front of a sellout crowd of 4,702.

“I couldn’t ask for a better All-Star Game,” said Trinkwon after the game. “It’s awesome winning it here.”

The 23-year-old Atlanta, GA native, who was selected by the Dodgers in the seventh round of the 2013 First Year Player Draft out of UC Santa Barbara, went 2 for 3 with a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored and was named as the game’s Most Valuable Player.

Trinkwon’s teammate and good friend Cody Bellinger also had a big night for the Cal League All-Stars. Although the 19-year-old Chandler, AZ native and son of former MLB utility infielder/outfielder Clay Bellinger managed only one hit in his four at-bats on Tuesday night, it was a big one – a two-RBI double that knocked in his teammate and pretty much knocked the Carolina All-Stars out of the game. Bellinger was also involved in three huge double plays that prevented the east coasters from getting back into the game.

Visalia Rawhide right-hander John Omahen picked up the win for the Cal League with his perfect inning of work in the third inning with one strikeout. Potomac Nationals right-hander Nick Pivetta suffered the loss allowing two runs on two hits with two walks, including one to Trinkwon who would come around to score on Bellinger’s double.
