I have some good news and some bad news.
The good news is: the Dodgers will be televising every spring training game (except for two away split-squad games) live this spring beginning with the spring training opener on Wednesday, March 4 at 12:05 pm PT against the Chicago With Sox at Camelback Ranch.
The bad news is: if you are among the 70% living in the greater Los Angeles area who do not have Time Warner Cable, you won’t be able to watch them.
…well, sort of.
While SportsNet LA, the Dodgers $8 billion regional sports network, will be airing all 31 spring training games live to TWC subscribers, MLB Network will also air 21 of those games, with 17 of them being tape-delayed. Just how delayed is anyone’s guess.
Additionally, Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully will call the three Freeway Series games against the Angels on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 2, 3 and 4 and one additional game at Camelback Ranch. And although the Dodgers have yet to announce which game that will be, a safe bet would be the already sold-out Friday, March 27 game against the hated Giants at 7:05 pm PT.
On the radio side, 17 games will be broadcast on AM 570, the Dodgers flagship radio station, with eight games being broadcast on KTNQ 1020, the Dodgers Spanish broadcast station. Dodger fans can also catch Dodger Talk with Kevin Kennedy and David Vassegh on AM 570 Monday through Friday from 7-8 pm PT. In the event that there is a UCLA Bruins basketball game, Dodger Talk will air immediately following those games.
