It’s been a long winter. Not just because we have been without baseball for nearly six months but because we have been without Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully for nearly six months.
Oh sure, the Dodgers have been playing spring training games since March 4, but Dodger fans have had to watch the games on SportsNet LA or MLB.TV without Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully behind the microphone. And while I certainly mean no disrespect to Charlie Steiner, Rick Monday, Kevin Kennedy, Ned Colletti or Orel Hershiser, they are not Vin Scully.
On Friday night, Scully will call his one and only game from Camelback Ranch when the Dodgers take on the defending World Champion San Francisco Giants, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm PT.
The Dodgers line-up for what is affectionately being called “The Vin Game” is as follows:
- Rollins SS
- Puig RF
- Gonzalez 1B
- Kendrick 2B
- Crawford LF
- Uribe 3B
- Pederson CF
- Ellis C
- Greinke P
Following Greinke on the mound will be:
- Paco Rodriguez
- Yimi Garcia
- Mike Adams
- David Aardsma
For those without access to SportsNet LA, the first three innings of the game with Vin at the mic will be simulcast on AM 570 LA Sports. Steiner and Monday will then pick up the action on the radio from the fourth inning on.
Although a Dodgers win over the Hated Ones would be great, Dodger fans are already winners with their beloved Vin Scully on the air for an unprecedented 66th season.
All is well in the universe.
not really, the #sfgiants are still WS Champs
They are last year’s WS champs. 😉
It’s always great to hear the sound of “The Voice of the Dodgers”.
