‘Here come the Dodgers’ – Vin Scully

For ardent football fans, Super Bowl XLIX (49) marked the end of the 2014 NFL season. But for the rest of us, the end of the Super Bowl means something entirely different. It means that after nearly four long, cold lonely months without baseball, a brand new season is on the horizon. It is now so close that we can almost smell the freshly cut grass and the Dodger Dogs on the grill.

With football now behind us it means that pitchers and catchers will be reporting for spring training within a matter of days, not weeks or months. It means that Dodger fans are making their plans and rooms are being reserved for weekend or even week-long trips to Arizona for spring training games and the hope of getting an autograph from their favorite players. It means that it’s almost time to renew our MLB At-Bat subscriptions for our smartphones. And make no mistake about it, every die-hard Dodger fans is very well aware of all of these things.

Within minutes of the Super Bowl ending, Dodger fans started tweeting about the new baseball season beginning.

Minutes after the Super Bowl ended, Dodger fans began tweeting that baseball is back.

Even Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully let it be known at the Dodgers FanFest event on Saturday that baseball has returned.

“We survive our way through basketball hoping the Lakers will survive, and we hope for the Kings and the Ducks, we want them all to succeed,” said Scully before the huge FanFest crowd. “But if you’re a true fan, especially if you’re a Dodger fan, deep down inside you’re saying ‘Please, get out of the way, get off the stage. Here come the Dodgers!'”
