Matt Kemp trade rumors are no longer rumors

It is the rumor that every Dodger fan has been dreading but now appears to be a painful reality – Matt Kemp is no longer a Dodger.

After a marathon day (and night) of wheeling and dealing that saw the Dodgers trade Dee Gordon, Dan Haren and Miguel Rojas to the Miami Marlins and (apparently) Zach Lee to the Philadelphia Phillies, news sources out of San Diego are reporting that the Dodgers have traded All-Star outfielder Matt Kemp and back-up catcher Tim Federowicz to the San Diego Padres in exchange for 26-year-old catcher Yasmani Grandal, 24-year-old right-handed starter Joe Wieland and 20-year-old right-handed pitching prospect Zach Eflin. The Dodgers are reportedly also paying the Padres $31 million of the $107 million they still owe Kemp.

Although there has been no official word on the deal from either the Dodgers or Padres, the San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that it is a done deal.

ThinkBlueLA will updates this breaking blockbuster trade as more information becomes available throughout the day.

I heard about the Kemp trade after I woke up this morning. Although I expected it, it still hasn’t sunk in. As I write this it looks like we have Rollins at SS and Kendricks at 2B and a few more pitchers and new catching unless more has happened.
