Dodgers keeping season ticket holders connected this Christmas

One of the perks (or Rewards, as they call them) of being a Dodgers season thicket holder is receiving a nice, albeit sometimes unusual, Christmas gift each year from our beloved team. In the past these token gifts have included a small snow globe, glass tumblers and similar nice gifts. And while these items are… well… nice, they are sometimes on the cheap and impractical side. Such cannot be said about the gift that season thicket holders received this past week courtesy of the Dodgers. In fact, Guggenheim Baseball Management group has outdone themselves this year.

This Christmas the Dodgers sent their season thicket holders a very nice USB power bank cellphone / iPod (etc.) charger that will actually be used by Dodger fans instead of being stowed away in a closet or re-wrapped and given away to a distant relative or an obnoxious neighbor like an unwanted fruitcake.

Although the charger comes with a photocopied but heartfelt letter from Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten, stadium giveaway and promotional items generally fall under the umbrella of the Dodgers Advertising and Promotions Department under the direction of Shelley Wagner.

Even though the phone chargers are not what you would call ‘high-end,’ they are definitely solidly built and have some heft to them. And while season thicket holders will probably never know what each charger actually cost the Dodgers, keep in mind that the Dodgers sold nearly 35,000 season tickets in 2014.

Taking this one step further, the storied franchise apparently also sent one of these nice cellphone chargers to each of their minor leaguers – even those who Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman and general manager Farhan Zaidi recently traded away, such as right-hander Craig Stem, who posted this on Twitter and Instagram:

Well played, Dodgers. Well played indeed.
